New Perspective Senior Living – Three Types of Services for Residents

NPSL is a chain of housing communities for seniors, with facilities distributed across the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Illinois. NPSL offers three service options for its clients: independent living, assisted living, and memory care.

Each service is specific to the needs of the senior resident. Adults over 55 who want to enjoy a community without the hassles of everyday chores and who do not need much daily care can choose independent living services. For these residents, NPSL offers comfortable accommodations, housekeeping services, dining, exercise programs, social opportunities, and more.

Those in need of personalized care and support with daily tasks can choose assisted living, which includes 24-hour supervision and security, daily meals, and access to medical services.

Memory care services are specific to those with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. These services include medical monitoring, emergency call systems, and assistance with daily activities.

LeadingAge’s Take on Some of the President’s FY21 Budget Cut Requests

Ryan Novaczyk served as CFO of New Perspective Senior Living (NPSL) for 10 years before advancing to a new role as CEO in September 2019. Ryan Novaczyk is tasked to continue what his father, former CEO and now chairman Todd Novaczyk has started.

NPSL belongs to LeadingAge in Illinois and Minnesota. LeadingAge is a charitable organization whose members represent the entire field of aging services. LeadingAge noted some budget cut requests President Trump had made that will affect aging services.

Every year, the President delivers his fiscal year budget request before the US Congress, in time for the House and Senate’s deliberation on funding levels of the different programs of the federal government. President Donald Trump delivered his request before the legislature for the fiscal year 2021 (FY21) on February 10.

President Trump requested to cut the Medicare budget by $8.8 billion in FY21, saying he wants to “eliminate excessive spending and distortionary payment incentives.” The cut covers some areas of interest of the members of LeadingAge. Most of these cuts would require legislative action and the organization will work hand-in-hand with the Administration and the members of Congress to make sure that the Medicare program, which has been a great help to older adults, will continue to provide resources to industry players so they can deliver quality services.

On the Administration for Community Living (ACL), President Trump requested a $115 million budget cut. ACL funds the programs under the Older Americans Act (OAA), such as elder justice programs, nutrition services, home- and community-based services, and family caregiving. LeadingAge expressed its disappointment since, with the partnership of the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations, it has lobbied for the increase in funding for OAA programs before the House and Senate since last year. However, there is still hope since LeadingAge expects Congress to reauthorize the OAA, the basis of ACL programs.

President Trump failed to include funding requests for geriatrics education and training. LeadingAge said experts in geriatrics need to train the workforce in specialized care for older adults.
